As an artist of sorts I love to team up with other artists, so when I had the opportunity to collaborate with designers for Williamsburg Fashion Weekend I couldn’t say no.
What is Williamsburg Fashion Weekend? (Taken from WilliamsburgFashionWeekend.com) ‘Williamsburg Fashion Weekend provides a unique platform of expression for emerging designers who aren’t afraid to push the boundaries of design, presentation and production.’
On Friday 13th I was asked to work with self taught designer Mark Tauriello. Mark’s creations for this season are based off the book series ‘Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark’. A dark feel, black and white designs with only red and blue popping up here and there. His artistic idea for makeup was to create a corpse feel, dark smoked out eyes, pale white face and deep burgundy or black colored lips. Hair he wanted a center part with white powder in said part. I teamed up with model/makeup artist Allison Goldfire to make his dream reality.
Saturday 14th I teamed up with IQ Test by Melissa Lockwood, who creates fashion from scraps that would be filling our landfills. The wonderful makeup team and I created a simple look of a neutral eye with a black cat eyeliner with the hair in a high pony tail.
I had a great time both days, getting to see so much talent and creation is really inspiring. I can’t even go on about all the other designers and there makeup concepts. Uta Bekaia, Shute Organic, Geary Marcello and everyone else I creep peaked on all completely amazing. Check out a Gothamist posting here to see what you missed.
Williamsburg Fashion Weekend, we will meet again. Thank you for the inspiration.
